What Does an Active Stretch Release Session look like?
During an active stretch release session, one of our specialists will look at the texture, tightness, and movement of a number of different aspects of the affected area. This can include muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves. After evaluating the area, your practitioner will use a hands-on approach to help alleviate pressure or pain from the affected area. By adding force into the stress point, we can help provide relief to the area.*
What is Active Stretch Release?
Active Stretch Release is a modality used for soft tissue injuries. It is a massage-based therapy that can help treat a variety of different physical issues.*
Some of these soft tissue injuries include*:
- Back Pain
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Shin Splints
- Shoulder Pain
- Plantar Fascilitis
- Knee Problems
- Tennis Elbow.
Most injuries are caused by the result of overused muscles. An overused muscle can change in three different ways*:
- Acute conditions (pulls, tears)
- Small tears (micro-trauma)
- Not enough oxygen (hypoxia)
When experiencing these changes, your body may begin to produce scar tissue in the affected area. This new scar tissue can cause other tissues in your body to become constricted, not allowing you to live your life freely as well as a lack of range of motion.*
